Crescent Rolls

>> Monday, January 23, 2012

Kuya was hungry but Mommy was busy.
"Can you make these crescent rolls, Mommy?"
"I have a better idea...why don't you make it yourself?"

The instructions were plainly written on the canister and you followed it. And it was a success! Another life skill learned.
Great job Kuya!

Sushi night

>> Sunday, January 15, 2012

We love sushi! Oh yes we do! However, it would cost us a fortune if we went out for sushi regularly. So we make it at home. I don't trust myself to handle raw fish though so I mostly use smoked salmon.Tonight, you girls helped me prepare the sushi, mixing the rice and putting the stuff in before I rolled it up.

Pizza night

>> Friday, January 13, 2012

We used to eat at Red Brick Pizza often a few years ago. This was our first time in a long while...and it may be the last one for an even longer time. Let's just say that it was not what we thought it would be. :( Too bad too because we were so excited to eat there on a Friday night.

Green Chicken Enchilada Soup

>> Tuesday, May 10, 2011

I got this recipe from Molly W., aka Biografitti Designs back in our ScrapArtist days. I've made it a few times for several pot lucks and it was a hit each time. I love that it's really easy to make. The original recipe makes a real big batch so I prefer to halve the recipe.
I shared this recipe with our Mom's group for our recipe exchange. Our theme this year was one-pot meals. This was perfect, of course!
Here is the recipe that I've tweaked to lessen the spiciness. The kids don't do spicy.
1/2 rotisserie chicken, shredded
1 can black beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2  bottle green salsa or green taco sauce
1 32 oz carton of chicken broth
1 8oz brick of cream cheese
1 bag frozen sweet white corn

Mix the first 6 ingredients together in a big pot. Heat thoroughly. Add the cream cheese. Once completely melted, add corn. Serve with tortilla chips.

Cinnamon Rolls

>> Saturday, November 13, 2010

Homemade cinnamon rolls. Sure, they're from a can. Most foodies would likely turn up their noses on my culinary creation. I don't care. The kids love it. I love that they can enjoy something freshly made prepared in minimal time.

Royce Chocolate

>> Sunday, May 2, 2010

I've heard raves about this chocolate from friends back home. Fortunately, my brother came for a visit and brought me a box. Well, it was melt in your mouth creamy. But maybe it's too sophisticated for me? Not really something I would be craving for. The good thing about it though is that just one square is enough to satisfy any sweet cravings I might have had. It is that rich!

Sushi Night

Sushi is my favorite!!! And consequently has become my family's favorite too. With the volume of sushi my family is able to consume, we do not go out to sushi restaurants often. Instead, we bring the restaurant experience home. Yum!

Healthy Snacking

Trying my best to snack healthy. I like flavor in my food so just munching on carrot sticks will definitely not do it for me. Dipping it in hummus makes it so much better.

Li Hing Yummy

>> Wednesday, February 3, 2010

One of the yummy things I brought home from Hawaii is Li Hing powder. For those who are familiar with Chinese delicacies, this is kiamoy powder. You can sprinkle it on just about anything for a nice little kick. It goes especially well with mangoes too. I indulged today and sprinkled it on sour patch kids. Mmmmm... My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

About This Blog

This project began as a challenge to record my family's daily life for a year by taking one photo a day. It was not as successful as I wanted it to be.
After taking off for about a year, I am embarking on this photographic journey once more. I hope that these pictures will be visual cues to the memories we've built together as a family.
